Joseph Beauchamp is an Articling Student at Hansell LLP. He rejoins the firm after having worked the past three summers as a summer student.
Joseph obtained a Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor from McGill University. While studying at McGill, he was a member of the McGill Business Law Association and the McGill Intellectual Property Law Association. In his third year of law school, his academic writing was published under the litigation heading of the Journal of Parliamentary and Political Law.
Prior to attending law school, Joseph graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa, where he was awarded the silver medal for achieving the second-highest standing in the faculty of arts, the faculty plaque in philosophy for achieving the highest standing of any graduate in the honours bachelor programs in the department of philosophy and the award of excellence for being one of two recipients in the humanities with a cumulative grade point average of nine-point-five or more in the fourth year of studies in a specialization or major. In addition to serving in student government, he presented his academic work at international conferences and published two works in peer-reviewed journals. During this time, he was also invited to participate in a prestigious fellowship in Washington, D.C., where he had the opportunity to interact with eminent law professors and a Supreme Court Justice about legal philosophy.
A lifelong learner, Joseph is currently enrolled in the Canadian Securities Course, offered by the Canadian Securities Institute, and is an avid reader of business and governance publications.
Joseph has passed both Ontario Bar exams and is a lawyer licensing candidate. He is set to be admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2025.
